LP (or Louisiana Purchase Food & Spirits) on Main offers a full bar serving up craft cocktails, and an antique cruvinet system serving up fourteen wines by glass. But it’s also its reputation as Banner Elk’s premier restaurant and wine bar boasting the longest wine list in the area. As well as the commitment to sourcing those ingredients from local providers (like Charlotte’s Greenhouse and Heritage, Springhouse, and Trosley Farms among others). You might be wondering what’s kept them thriving all this time? Well, for one, fresh, seasonal ingredients prepared at their peak may have something to do with it. And it’s been around since 1984, almost four decades, thanks to husband and wife/chef-owners Patrick and Laurie. Dinner was so yummy that we will most likely visit the restaurant again before we leave our vacation stay in Sugar Mountain. The presentation was so pretty, and it was a nice finale to our meal. ![]() For dessert, we shared warm Chocolate Lava Cake. The fries weren’t overly seasoned and very good. I personally ordered the 6 ounce and had to bring half home. The burger can be ordered in 6 or 10 ounce sizes. The burger was on two slices of buttered rye toast with caramelized onions and toppings of choice, and it was so very delicious. For dinner, we each ordered the Patty Melt with Sweet Potato Fries. which came with pita bread slices, and it was the best we’ve ever had. The food was the bomb! For appetizer, my husband and I shared the Spinach and Artichoke Dip. While staying in Sugar Mountain, my husband and I found Banner Elk Cafe to be our favorite restaurant for dinner.
